About Me
Hey there! I’m Taylor Merkley Doyer-- nice to meet you!
Even though I’ve lived in Grande Prairie for twenty years, as a young person I thought my time here would be temporary. I imagined I’d move to some dazzling big city where I would write the next big thing in young adult fiction, probably something about yetis falling in love at a magic high school or whatever (vampires were on their way out, and I wasn’t afraid to be a trendsetter). But, like a lot of people who come here, I came to really like my new community, and ultimately decided to make it my home for the long haul. (Also, it turns out the market for yeti romance was not exactly booming.)
While I was not destined to become the next YA fiction sensation, I quickly found my true calling in communications. I found that I liked taking dense information—the more complex, the better—and translating it into targeted, engaging, action-driven materials that resonated with audiences and achieved organizational goals.
In 2021 I earned my MA in Communication Technologies from the University of Alberta and wrote my thesis about best practices in research knowledge mobilization at Canadian colleges (if you’re looking for something to help you fall asleep tonight, feel free to give it a browse.)
With nearly a decade of professional experience, I specialize in creating professional, polished written materials for clients in a diverse range of industries, including small business, non-profit, and public sector organizations. I have experience with everything from business plans and strategic documents to marketing campaigns, web copy, and policy manuals. I’m also happy to support research-related projects such as literature reviews, research reports, environmental scans, and evaluation and assessment projects.
I’m excited to help you achieve your organization’s most ambitious goals with professionalism, authenticity, and clear, impactful writing. And don’t worry, I promise not to put any yetis in there (unless you ask me to).
You’ve got the vision; I’ve got the pen. Let’s write something great together.
